Power Bar positive review

I was at one of my B.O. locations yesterday doing a few things that had run longer than I had expected. I was wiping out some cupboards and found a Poser Bar on the top shelf all the way to the back, I was feeling a little hungry
You know a "snack" about now would be great. I set it aside and when I had finished I looked at the expiration date which was 3 years past expiration. I grabbed a glass and went and pumped me a cold cup of water then sat in the shade and proceed with the inspection. The foil type rapper did not have any holes no sign that a mouse had beaten me to the snack, I opened it and it still felt soft and smelled fine, I took a small taste ready to spit it out, but it tasted just fine, I ate it all and drank my water.
I sat in the shade for a little bit until the gnats started becoming annoying then went on and finished up.
I do not know how long the shelf life of these power bars are when they are new, but I bet they will last a lot longer than 3 years past expiration.
I just wanted to share this as I know a lot of people are scared about food products that are even one day past the exp date.

Re: Power Bar positive review

Good to know. I've been trying to think of the best food to put in a BO bag. What would give the most energy and nutrients in the smallest package. I've been leaning towards MREs and candy bars, but a power bar may be a better choice than candy. I also wish civvies could get ahold of the new FSRs. They are basically a stripped down MRE leaving only what you need and none of the doo dads and gee gaws.

That's what I stock.

Did some research, and as near as I can tell, they

Have the best calorie to weight ratio of anything around

Except for perhaps pemmican.

There are some other types that are similar to them - I too like them as a ration type of deal. lots of calories for the size/weight/cost.

Whenver I find them on sale for $1 a bar I buy a few boxes.
